Greg Nelson is the Student Support Specialist for The Center for Student Success and Intervention (CSSI). He holds a BA in Mass Communications from Lehman College. Greg’s introduction to Higher Education came via his roles at Columbia University’s School of Professional Studies. At the School of Professional Studies, Greg supported students from the prospective candidate stage through to program conferral. Greg has a depth of experience beyond higher education which serves to inform his work. Aside from Columbia University, Greg served as a Public Health Advisor and as Level II Community Health Liaison with NYC Health & Hospitals Corporation. In both roles, Greg served as a key component in the efforts to promote and strengthen health equity for New York City’s most vulnerable and underserved populations.
Greg is passionate about mental health and wellness, equity, and the elimination of the marginalization which prevents the underserved population from accessing the resources needed to redress historical inequities. Greg is a native New Yorker and hails from Harlem, NY. As an evolving human being, Greg is actively seeking opportunities for self-discovery and growth. Presently those opportunities are rooted in meditation and various forms of exercise.
